OFFICE OF THE LEADER OF OPPOSITION

Gujarat Vidhansabha, Gandhinagar.

Press Note                                                       24th August, 2012

  • Security Boats bought at heavy costs are lying unused.
  • Central government has approved a Rs 300 Crore costal security plan for Gujarat.
  • Selection process of the crew was over months back, but the file is still lying in the Chief Minister’s office.
  • Gujarat Chief Minister wants terrorists that should come to Gujarat.
  • In the case of terrorist attacks, he remains safe in tight security and common man becomes a victim and his vote bank is strengthened.

Government of India has sanctioned an Rs 300 Crore plan for security of Gujarat’s costal border. But it appears that Gujarat Chief Minister wants to make Gujarat’s international border unsafe. Under the plan, boats have been purchased with the money provided by Government of India. The selection process of the three member crew of each of these boats was over in January this year. However, no appointments have been made yet. As a result, expensive and useful boats are lying unutilized. Similarly the CM is not appointing the staff of the marine police station and is not taking any steps for the modernization of these police stations.  This clearly shows that the CM wants terrorists to come to Gujarat. He moves with heavy security but has no concern for the security of the common man.  His plan is clear, if there will be terrorism in Gujarat, he will get a chance to cover up his corruption and weaknesses. If there would be a terrorist attack, he would be safe in tight security and common man would become a victim and his vote bank would be strengthened.

Leader of Opposition, Shaktisinh Gohil said that, non appointment of the staff amounts to criminal negligence.  In Mumbai terror attacks, a Gujarat boat Kuber was used. Even then Modi is indulging in his own publicity and security. Gohil has demanded that the selected crew should be given appointment letters immediately to beef up the costal security of Gujarat.
