  • Central government announced tourism development plans of Rs. 150 crore for Gujarat even as the state government has not made any proposal.
  • Beginning of Rs. 4809 lakh Kabirvad Mega circuit project work.
  • Tourism projects worth crores undertaken at Kabirvad, Porbandar and Dwarka at the instance of Ahmed Patel.

Union government has undertaken tourism development projects of Rs. 150 crore at Kabirvad, Dwarka and Porbandar at the initiative of Ahmed Patel. Union Tourism Minister Subodhkant Sahay said this while laying stone of integrated tourism development project at central Gujarat’s Kabirvad.

The project at the cost of Rs. 4809 lakh covers Bharuch district’s Kabirvad, Shuklatirth, Mangleshvar and Angareshvar. Sahay said that union government wanted to promote tourism in Gujarat. He said that though there was no proposal from Gujarat government, central government, at the instance of Ahmed Patel, took up projects at Kabirvad, Porbandar mega circuit covering places associated with Gandhiji and Dwarka and places connected with it. He said that last year the central government had provided Rs. 80 crore to Gujarat and promised that it would provide more money next year. Gohil thanked Union Minister Sahay and Ahmed Patel for pro active interest in the development of tourism in Gujarat. He said that the centre had given Rs. 1,000 crore to Gujarat under Rajiv Gandhi electrification scheme. This is to provide 24 hours electricity in rural areas. Gohil requested the state government to provide round the clock electricity to Kabirvad under the scheme.

Gujarat Tourism Minister Jay Narayan Vyas, Leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil, MOS Tourism Jitendra Sukhadia, Chairman of Gujarat Tourism Development Corporation, Kamlesh Patel, Congress whip Iqbal Patel, MLA Kiran Makwana and other leaders were present at the function at Kabirvad.
