Many a times, he publicly declared his commitment to secularism.
In June 1947, when he was suggested that India should be declared a Hindu state, with its official religions as Hinduism; he rejected the suggestion and said that “we must not forget that there are other minorities whose protection is our primary responsibility“. He also said that State must exist for all irrespective of the cast and creed and the talk of a Hindu Rastra was a mad idea. In 1950, he declared that “Ours is a secular state and we can not fashion our politics in the way Pakistan is doing it. Here every Muslim should feel that he is an Indian citizen and has equal rights as an Indian“. Patel further said that “If we can not make a Muslim feel like this, we shall not be worthy of our heritage and our country“.
But now a days sardar is being used by political parties fr dirty politics like some1 wants to make him a radical Hindu and some1 wants to use his name to get reservations.

after reading and visit your blog now i have to write first of all “SHAKTISINH EK SACHU SONU CHHE” sona ne kayrey kat nathi lagto when you have resign from chimanbhai ministry i was very young and befor join politicks and jounalism at that time i have read in news paper that you have resign for to established medical collage in bhavnagar realy you are a strong and dynamick leader in the experince of my 15 year with politician as a press jounalit i have seen only three to for leader in congress after you arjunbhai and jagdishbhai thakor i have never seen a strong ledear like you in the your party i cant any suggestion but if congress has given a chance to young jounration between 18year to 45 year and may be retierd old congress worker this is my opiniyan today publick trusted in young leader like a RAHUL GANDHI PRIYNKA GANDHI if in future your party will promet a PRIYNKA GANDHI as a PM of india under the ledearship of her your party will rulling at least 25 year on india stiil lote of poor and helepless peopil belive in congress party but in gujarat congress have to develope more and more young leadear like you in every district
