Supreme Court favours people of Bhavnagar in the controversial sale of public land of Bor Talav and Victoria Park to a builder

Citing the developments in the Supreme Court in the matter relating to the claim of a builder on public land of Bor Talav and Victoria Park of Bhavnagar, Leader of Opposition and MLA from Bhavnagar, Shaktisinh Gohil has demanded that State Government and Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation should issue necessary orders in this case keeping public interest in mind.

In a media release, Gohil pointed out that the petition of ISCON Builders came up before the Supreme Court today. The Builder preferred to withdraw the petition when Court made it clear that it was going to dismiss it. The builder had sought claim on the land of Survey Number 471 and 472 on the ground that it had bought land from Palitana Sugar Mills.

However, people of Bhavnagar were fighting against the sale of land which was public land. Leader of Opposition, Shaktisinh Gohil, Budhabhai Patel, Pratapbhai Shah, Arun Mehta, V B Tayal, Darshanbhai Bhatt and others had sought to join as party in the case. Gohil had submitted to the Court the facts relating to the land which has historic Bor Talav and Victoria Park. This showed that the land belonged to public. ISCON builder had sought possession of the land, NA permission and other related permissions.

In the present situation, Gohil said that when Supreme Court has stood by people of Bhavnagar, the State Government should take a vigilant stand in tricky legal situations that might arise in future and protect the interest of people. He on behalf of the people of Bhavnagar welcomed the approach of the Supreme Court and appealed to all political parties to remain with people rising above their political views.
