  • Modi government has failed in generating targeted power.
  • How can he talk of law and order who has burnt alive Ramsewaks and killed Rahim followers.

Gujarat Chief Minister’s address in Delhi today was a bundle of utter lies and a good example of irresponsible public statements. Giving facts and figures from the Socio Economic Survey of Gujarat government for 2012-13 which was placed in the State Assembly this year, senior Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil said that exposed the lie of Modi that the length of railway lines and highways had increased during NDA rule, but decreased in the UPA regime.

In fact, the length of the railway line decreased in the time of NDA rule in Gujarat and India while it increased during the UPA rule. Similarly, the length of national highways increased manifold during the UPA government. This is evident from page S-62 and S-63 of the Review, he said.

The length of the railway track which was 5396 kms in 1961 rose to 5588 kms in 1981. But during the NDA time it reduced to about 5186 kms. This rose to 5271 during the rule of UPA. There was negligible increase in the length of broad gauge track during NDA rule. When UPA came into power in 2003 broad gauge track was just 2459 kms has now increased to 3382 kms. As per the figures of Gujarat government, the length of national highways has increased during UPA rule only. The length of national highways which was 2382 kms in 2000 shrank to 2356 kms in 2003-04. Thus national highways length has reduced during NDA rule. During the UPA rule the length of national highways increased from 2356 kms to 3262 kms registering a notable increase. (These figures are of official record of Gujarat government and are available on the website of Shaktisinh Gohil)

He says that youth must get employment and he is helping Gujarat youth get work. In his state graduates get job for a fixed salary of Rs 2500 or Rs 3500 per month. In a judgment, Gujarat High Court has severely criticized this policy and dubbed it as exploitation of youth. Still Modi is not giving adequate wages. During Modi’s rule, government employment has decreased.

Figures on page S-84 of the review reveals the real picture of employment in Gujarat. In Gujarat, there were 8129   unemployed post graduates. The figure increased to 52538 in 2011. During this period the number of unemployed graduates increased from 55007 to 243382. The number of unemployed engineers increased from 4085   to   10641. The number of registered educated unemployed which was 5, 93,155 in 1990 has grown to 8, 32,168.

He has made tall claims about power generation in his Delhi speech while in Gujarat his own performances falls very short of the targets. His own government’s figures expose him. Gujarat farmers do not get electricity even for eight hours. Gujarat farmers do not get electricity even for eight hours.

He talked about corruption. However, it is a known fact that Modi’s cabinet has most corrupt ministers. There was a complaint against nephew of Railway Minister and he resigned. However, in the case of Modi the story is totally opposite. A court sentenced his minister Babubhai Bokhiria to three year imprisonment in a corruption case. But the minister is still in his cabinet. In the case of another minister Purshottam Solanki, there was a case in Gujarat High Court and the court made it clear that there was involvement of Solanki in a Rs 420 crore scam. A case was registered against him on the instructions of the court. Solanki is still a minister in the cabinet of Modi. Making Bangaur sit with him and willing to join hands with Yedurappa, how can Modi talk about the corruption?

He talks about law and order in Delhi, but situation is worst in his Gujarat on this front. In 1992, kae sewak safely went to Ayodhya and returned during the Congress rule. He gathered votes in the name of Ram and then set afire ram sewaks or allowed them to be burnt alive in Godhra and then set ablaze followers of Rahim. What right this Chief Minister has to talk about law and order.

He should compare the policy of NDA rule while criticizing the foreign policy of Man Mohan Singh. On 21/02/1999 NDA Prime Minister Bajpai had signed Lahore Declaration Agreement. As per this agreement, Bajpai had promised that leaders and ministers of both countries should meet regularly. During BJP headed government in the centre, they had gone to Lahore in a bus while Pakistani troop infiltrated in Kargil. Kargil war was from May 1999 to July 1999 in which many of soldiers were killed. At that time there was BJP government. Thus terrorism was at peak and during July 14 to July 16, 2001 BJP leaders invited Pakistani leaders to Agra and bowed down to them. Why Modi did not give any advice to them. In April 2001, our 16 jawans were killed on Bangladesh border just because of inept foreign policy of the NDA government. Terrorists attacked Akshardham and Parliament while BJP leaders went to Kandhar to free terrorists.
